Born gift or given Gift ?

This post thought was done because it is something i think about along with other things but i thought why not talk about this and see if you agree with what i think or what i might think to be true.
I have been told that my ability to see and hear Spirits is a gift. On that thought here is a few questions i ask from time to time.
Did i always have this gift? I mean was i born with it?
Or was i given it in a part of my life when i maybe was chosen to be given such a gift? And for the most part why? What made me stand out? What made me as others call it special?
When i was a child i never had seen ghosts or felt that i was with someone i couldn't see. Now i had a way of knowing things and seeing or hearing spirits. I guess a question i have can a spirit ,guardian, god , give this gift at a part in your life when maybe they feel they need you or you need them? Or maybe it is the gift it's self progressing along to a higher level. There is alot i don't understand and alot of people think im nut's tell i tell them something i should have never known! I don't know take this and see if you can make sense out of it ,,,lol,,,Bye Bye...
